Hi all
I've had 6 chemo's now and am still working one week a fortnight. I've just about lost all my hair this time, I haven't shaved it all off yet I'll wait another couple of weeks and see. I had a CT a few weeks ago and the cancer tumours have shrunk so will continue with chemo. I see the Oncologist again in 4 weeks. I've been tired but managing to still get things done.
Thanks all
Aussie12
Lots more hugs and purrs being sent to you (((((hug)))))

Hi all
Just realised that I haven't updated for ages. Yesterday I had my 20th chemo !!! My CT scans and PET scans have been good and cancer isn't growing so the Oncologist is going to give me chemo forever. I gave up fulltime work and luckily got my Superanuation payout and went to just 10 hours casual a fortnight. I'm not working at all now as I can't go out with the coronavirus, I only go to the hospital for chemo.
The hospital moved the chemo ward upstairs as they wanted our space for the ICU. The ICU is next door so it was the best space for them to put more beds in there. Is was strange yesterday and we had to have a swipe card to get in plus had our temp taken to get into the hospital.
Luckily here in Australia we haven't had a huge number of people getting the virus, most from ships and people from overseas but most places are closed and everyone is staying at home. I'm not going anywhere, sometimes I go for a walk in the park near me which is nice. If I get the virus I'll be very sick so being carefull.
I hope that everyone is well

Just over a year ago my 13-year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. She was perfectly healthy one day and then the next we are in the hospital getting the news. It was that quick. A terrible and shocking experience. She spent about three months in the hospital and there have been a lot of long days spent at the cancer clinic since. Thankfully she is doing well. It is a frightening experience but I have seen many children in that context that are coping with this affliction. I've seen them rolled them down the hallway to have a lung or kidney removed and then a couple days later they are up and about. So it can also be inspirational. I sort of felt ashamed for never realizing beforehand that so many people have had to suffer through these kinds of events. A sort of blissful ignorance. My only previous experience was to see the occasional TV commercial asking for money. It never really hit home that it is real. And the treatment of childhood Leukemia is a sort of medical miracle. Before the 1960s, any child that was diagnosed was almost certainly going to die. Today, the success rate is very high. With all the bad news in the world read this Smithsonian article about the how the dedication of some individuals made such a profound difference: Childhood Leukemia Was Practically Untreatable Until Dr. Don Pinkel and St. Jude Hospital Found a Cure | Innovation | Smithsonian

that wasme when mom got diagnosed with breast can Ed, luckily she coauthor it early and did not need chemo or anything but it was really scary. I can say I am. not the same person I was before mom got cancer..

Hi all
I'm still on chemo and latest PET scan was good, the cancer hasn't spread. I've just been relaxing and hopefully soon travel will be allowed again as I would love to go away.
Since this forum is closing I would like to thank everyone for your support through my cancer journey. I will miss everyone. Is there another forum opening up? Please let me know if there is.
Best wishes to everyone.
