I managed to accomplish essentially nothing today. Normally this would be fine - still plenty of time to swim and pack. But I forgot that we have pub quiz tonight. Oops. Still, I'll take the company of friends over the rest of it any day. I can probably pack in 10 minutes.

Damn, this is so, so sad. I met Nate at the con in Bangor and stayed friends with him on FB; he was a really great guy. I, too, am heartbroken for his family and fiancee.
I got to go to a bar party with them back in August, following an amazing piece of performance art that she did in front of the NYC public library. I offered to buy Neil a beer; they were leaving and he said he'd take a rain check.
I do a LOT of random acts of kindness, because I've had a couple of big ones done for me, and I still feel like I owe the universe something.
