I'm happy today because God answers prayer. I'd forgotten to send a certain Christmas card, so this morning, Saturday, I prepared one intending to mail it on my way to work at the post office near my house. I forgot about it, though, and found myself looking for a post office or mailbox around the area where I work, which I'm not familiar with. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if I had to wait til Monday to mail it, but I was frustrated that I'd forgotten to mail it and really didn't want it to arrive late. So I prayed that God would show me a post office or mailbox. I texted the mom of the little boy I take care of on weekends asking her if her apartment complex office has a mailbox or if there's one somewhere else but she didn't get the text. I had to get to the job so I decided to check the complex's office to see if they could mail it for me. I walked through the office doors and at the same time a postal worker walked in from a hallway and stopped in front of me. We looked at each other, she saw me holding the card and said, "I'll take that."
Do you believe in the magic of the season???

The other day while wrapping a Christmas present I grew tired of going different places for things. So I fixed three small drawers with one for stickers, labels, and tags, another for Christmas-colored ribbons, and a third for non-Christmas-colored ribbons. My sister said, "It's organized! Let's sing an organizing song!" So we sang "Joe Hill"! Only in a folkie family! (We listened to Joan Baez music in the womb and have been marked for life!)

I am happy today because I figured out a way to buy my mom new tires for her minivan for Christmas! I was so nervous about her driving out of town for Christmas with such bad tires. The roads can be treacherous around here in the winter, even if it's not snowing. The appointment to have them installed is on Wednesday afternoon and she's leaving Thursday morning to go to my half brother's for Christmas (about a three hour drive). I feel so much better about her traveling now. :)

Today was the first day since breaking my leg on December 3 that the pain abated enough for me to prepare to work on cards and presents. A friend went to the Post Office for a shipping box for an out of town gift, and I actually went to floor level to take things out of boxes which I had not dared to do previously.

The classmate who was so kind to me in the hospital came over to mail a package for me and discuss kitchen remodeling. When I went to show her the new floor pattern, I could find only one of four samples I had at one time. Not only were the other three not to be found, the one I found was wrong, nor could I remember either the name of the manufacturer nor the name of the pattern. There was nothing for it but to load me and the scooter in her car and drive to the local flooring store. It made for a funny visit as my classmate said the flooring store proprietor had unfriended her on Facebook for not buying materials for a recent remodel there, and she did not want to be seen. So she had to park several spots back from the front of the store and I had to go in alone.

I soon identified the sample, but the flooring store proprietor told me they had picked out a nice pattern themselves and then the company discontinued it! I contacted the company via their webform, asked for a sample, and told them if they DARED TO SO MUCH AS CONSIDERdiscontinuing that pattern to notify me

IMMEDIATELY

and I would buy it now and ask questions later. (We can't install it until the weather is much warmer and certainly not until my injury is healed.)

I am happy today because my mom got her new tires! While we were waiting the couple hours for them to be installed, I took my mom to a few places she needed to go (and a few stops for me as well). During this excursion, we were almost hit dead on by an SUV that failed to yield when they were supposed to. I was forced to turn the car I was driving into an adjacent street (thank God there wasn't a vehicle coming from that direction!). My mom said I handled the car perfectly (I don't even remember what happened - too much stress). I am so grateful we didn't get hurt and the car I was driving (which wasn't mine) didn't get wrecked.

I am happy today because I have finally moved to my new work area.

Gotta say - It's sweet. Back in the corner, no one can see my screen. Glass block windows to the side and back of me, and a big ole desk and drawing board. I can see everything, but no one can really see me. :cool2:

Lucky me. :rapture:

You have a bit of lint on your shoulder...........

I don't care of ice hockey, but maybe I should be happy now when Finland won world championship in hockey.
Been otherwise a good day. I had a chance to meet 3 of my old co workers from the gas station I worked in 5 years. We went on
a cup of coffee and had a 2 hours long conversation. Was so good to see them. Have really missed my old co workers.
