I turned 14 in 1987. I remember hormones. Too many hormones. Not many spots, though, so at least I had that going for me.
I got a 5-speed racing bike for my birthday, too, an upgrade on the BMX that had, by then, become too small for me (I was about 5' 9"). I've no idea how many miles I must have covered on that racer over the next two or three years, but it was a lot. I was gutted when my sister borrowed it, got it pinched from her mate's garden, and someone found it wrecked on some open ground over by the next estate.

I was a junior in high school in 1987. I, too, had big hair and crunchy bangs! Had a hand-me-down Chevy Citation X-11 that kicked major booty and had a killer stereo. Went to lots of movies and concerts, and drove many miles of back roads with my friends. I miss the 80s!;-D

I had my Chevy Citation on order even before they went on display to the public. Where I lived and traveling every evening to college and back I needed that new front wheel drive car. Stereo sucked until I eventually swapped it out. My next car was another new Citation. A big adjustment, and loss of manhood, going from a Camaro to a Citation. :)

You can always go back to a Camaro! 400+ HP in the new ones! Very fun to drive!

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' came out with that nearly movie length film clip. I went to see Predator. There's was the 'Black Thursday' I think they callled it Stock Market Crash. Manly won the grand final. Anything else? Didn't know if that was from the time of then. Other stuff, working, I still had my yellow Holden car. I turned 22 in January 1987.

I still listen to Thriller several times a week!! That record went for the jugular. Really amazing!

On the Simpsons, I think it started airing on the Tracey Ullman show in '87 but I was young enough I don't really remember.
I can still remember the '88 Christmas special that became the first episode of a ridiculously long running series. The very beginning (the Christmas pageant/choir thing) made me think of my OWN elementary school pageant that we were preparing for. Almost 30 years later and that memory still lingers whenever I see that episode aired. To a kindergartner or a young kid in grade school, forgetting your Christmas pageant lines was the equivalent to being shot with a laser gun and having the town form a fiery mob out for your blood.

I was on my first dig.... Crickley Hill, close to Cheltenham in England. I wasn't paid but i got a lot of valuable experience that summer. I paid my travel expences there but got food and board for 4 weeks free against working 6 days a week. A great time was had and the goodbye party was great! the summer of -87 was magic!

You're never too old for maximum horsepower!
The highways around here where you get the chance to open it up are filled with crazies. I travel back, secondary and country roads as much as I can and avoid the highways. And those roads are windy and hilly. I'd much rather have a vehicle I know can go anywhere at anytime, and one the will win and protect me if there is a crash. Plus, sitting high up you sometimes see interesting goings-on in other cars. ;)
