No, I have not either. Back home we say Wistaa, which reminds me, how do people pronounce "Worcestershire sauce"? I was taught to say "wister sheer" and now my teenager tells me that we've all been pronouncing it wrong. His teacher told him so. ???
I don't remember this distinction, Peabody was just another town in Massachusetts to me. (I ignorantly classified everything south of Salem, NH as urban). How silly I felt in retrospect!
It is weird - I like to listen to a nice sounding voice, but on the other hand if I run across a nasally whiney type of voice it really grates on my nerves
