As i write this I'm watching the Dead Zone with Christopher Walken. It's been a while since I read the book but I think the scene is the same. After the events in Castle Rock with Frank Dodd, Johnny has moved to a new town and his doctor comes to visit. he asks Johnny to come back to the institute. Johnny says "Why, so you can study me?" the doctor says "No, so I can protect you."

this sounds very much like something The Shop would say. Does anyone else get that feeling.

Yeah, I can see your point. I wonder how often that does get said.

King did work on The Dead Zone and Firestarter at the same time, going back and forth from one to the other.

They came back again (as things are wont to do) in The Golden Years.

I just started re-reading the Dead Zone and came across these 2 things:
    1. On page 33 John Smith is referred to as "long, tall, and ugly" while at the Wheel of Fortune roulette spin.
    2. On page 35, after winning a few times, he bets the whole wad on 19...and wins.
Whether intentional or not, 2 cool Dark Tower references.

As Mr. King once said, "19 is never a coincidence".
