I've read this book a couple times and i have some questions:

What did it mean to get "squaded"?

Regarding the timing of the warnings, if someone falls below 4 miles an hour, do they get their first warning the instant they slow down or 30 seconds after that? I was never clear on that.

not sure about the definition of "squaded"...don't recall the word, at all...and on the second, I had the impression that the warning came soon after the slow down, didn't have any conception of time other than "soon".

"Squaded" in The Long Walk referred to the goon squads from the Government coming in and taking Garraty's father away for being too vocal with his politics. Similar to gestapo tactics in WWII when someone disagreed with the Nazi agenda. A "squad" of gestapo would come for that person. Basically, they take you out and shoot you for voicing opposition against the regime that is currently in power.

....I stand corrected, and as much as it makes me throw up in my mouth, I have to say the Ghost is right...
