Watched it last weekend and unfortunately I couldn't really get into it. I thought Joan Allen and Anthony LaPaglia did pretty good but I just didn't care enough about what happened to them. I didn't hate it but I probably won't watch it again. However, there is one thing that I did get out of it. I'm damn happy to be single!

They did good, but no viewer ever saw the expected psychotic glint in LaPaglia's eye. If I didnt know better, I would at first think that he confessed to cover for somebody. :D

(Most of the victims were single :p) (I think) :p

I confess, I saw a picture of the actor playing the husband like 6 months ago and immediately lost all interest in seeing it. Looks completely opposite of the guy in the story. Just my opinion but the description of him in the story is totally what made the character so scary. Just a dumpy, portly bespectacled guy that could be anyone...or nobody. That's where the horror all comes from, to me at least. When I saw the picture of the guy in character and he looked like a GQ model I thought, eh, not really interested.

Pretty much exactly what I thought about the new Carrie and for the exact same reason. Sometimes always trying to cast "pretty people" in every role works against the story rather than for it.

Saw A Good Marriage AND Big Driver. I don't know how to do the spoiler thing - both were pretty good. I actually enjoyed Big Driver more than A Good Marriage but A Good Marriage had me asking myself questions like what would I have decided to do if I were in that situation. A Good Marriage had a lot of 'is this a trip or what?' parts - I loved that!

If you look in the toolbar, you will see a happy face. In that rectangle are 4 icons. Go to the furthest on the right, the one that looks like a letter. Open that. In there is spoiler. Just make sure what you are spoiling goes in the middle.

I absolutely don't trust critics. They are often right, in my opinion, and just as often wrong. I can flip a coin and get as useful a result. I often read them for recitation of facts from movies and that sometimes helps me to decide whether I'm interested or not. But with respect to the quality of the story, acting, dialogue, etc., I take my own counsel.

As for this movie, I enjoyed it. I thought it was good. My kids didn't. They were bored. I was fascinated by the conflict in the wife. And I thought she was portrayed quite well. So I liked it.

Eh. It was okay. The short story is my absolute favorite, so it would be pretty difficult to measure up to the picture in my mind. I did think the story was too thin to support a full length movie, and now I'm sure I was right. This would have worked better as part of an anthology-type movie. I generally like Joan Allen and Anthony LaPaglia, but not so much in this one.

My first thought EXACTLY, I watched this last night and when it was over I thought I had just watched a Lifetime movie!!

I didn't, "hate" it but it really fell flat for me. No suspense, no build up. And the wife was kinda unlikable from the beginning. The neighbor was annoying and not well written. I understand her role and what it was supposed to do, but it didn't. When they are at the wedding and she tells the wife that she thinks that her husband "has a thing for me" it was just odd. Poorly written. Could of used more of the detective through out and made him more likable, not just some creep that is dying. I could go on and on, but overall I seen it as I will all SK based movies, then I will just remember what SK always says when these things get butchered on the big screen. The book will never change.

Watch it fee on Netflix if you have it. I would not spend the PPV money on it.

I have not watched it. Yet. But I will. I would rather see it myself before I judge.

I think the problem may be...

When I read Stephen King...he is able to write in a manner that I can *see* the story in my minds eye. His words allow me to see the story unfold in my head. The words/story is so powerful (No. Not kissing azz.) it is very easy to see it. I am THERE. The feelings, emotions and the very real trepidations...and suspense.

Is it any wonder that the details and nuances cannot be readily or easily be *caught* in film?

JMO.

I saw it yesterday. I haven't read the book yet, but I just placed a hold on it from the library. One thing I thought for some reason was

Due to the wife's "hallucinations" (for lack of a better word for them), I thought that she actually commited the murders, and the husband was trying to cover for her.

I don't know why I thought this, but hopefully when I read the book, it will help me understand better.

The story is MUCH better than the movie.
