I went there while on vacation in 2003. The ENTIRE hotel was rented out for some very poshy wedding. the stair cases were all roped off and you could only walk around the front lobby. After blubbering to the front desk attendant about what a huge fan of Mr. King I was for a few minutes, then telling him I would most likely never have the chance to come back to Colorado...ever...and the fact I might be dying......ok...ok, I didn't use the dying bit....anyway, the guy was really cool, he went and spoke to the manager who said we could walk around upstairs if were quiet. My wife and I spent about an hour walking around upstairs. There is kind of basement area the manager took us to, but it was very small and cluttered. The place was very quiet. We ended our tour of the place by watching a very, very fast moving wind storm come thru and pretty much destroy the decorations outside the hotel. Lawn chairs, a gazebo, table coverings, blown all over the place. I have some pictures, but they were taken on a regular older model camera, not digital. I really loved the town of Estes Park. Everyone in town seemed very polite and courteous, and your so close to Rocky Mountain National Park, which I could happily wander around for the rest of my life.
