This week is Banned Book Week, September 22 - 28. Which banned books have you read? Did those books lead you down an immoral path?......did they enlighten you?......or were they just entertaining? Please try to keep politics out of replies.....I want this to be fun!

I have read quite a few of them. Of the picture you posted, my daughter is reading Native Son now for her Honors English class and has The Hate You Give up next on her list.

Just because a book is banned, doesn't make it a bad book, but I found out it doesn't make it a great book either, when I read Beloved last year. That one just didn't do it for me, although I have enjoyed some other Toni Morrison books. Surprised that I didn't see any Stephen King books on any of the banned lists I have found.

Moderator - are you aware of any Steven King books that have been challenged?

The only controversial one I can think of (and there I go being a Buttinski again :a24: ) would be Rage by Richard Bachman but I think he voluntarily took that one out of publication himself.

Here is a link to an article re SK and banning of his books. Please note- scan down to the end and read his own words from an article in The Bangor News.

No, but Stephen King has had several of his books challenged. ;)

That's a good link - thanks!

I found another one too:

Stephen King: An Unlikely Lifeline In Turbulent Waters

Only thing is that it's from six years ago so not very recent.

I have to sign off and go back to bed - only got five hours sleep plus I was feeling out of sorts yesterday

Thankee, Ms. Spidey! Funny reading that. I clicked on several links of top banned books from various years and didn't see any, but clearly they've been there.
