Dolores Claiborne: "It was just a bad patch."
Selena St. George: "I had a ****ing nervous breakdown, mother!"
Honestly, I identify with many (if not all, in some small way) of King's characters. One of the reasons SK is among my favorite authors.
However, if I have to choose only one character it would be Selena St. George from Dolores Claiborne.
My abusive alcoholic father did not die in an 'accident' nor did he sexually abuse me (the abuse was emotional/verbal/physical), but Selena's childhood home life and its impact on her adult life and her relationship with her mother as well as other people in her life hits very close... way too close... to home with me.

Personally, it is deeply saddening, yet weirdly comforting, to admit to this in public (albeit somewhat anonymously online).

(((summer sky))) inner peace.
aaaaawwwww, thanks for the hugs!
I'm not really looking for sympathy; it's just that when I found this thread, I just couldn't not respond honestly.
I'm dealing with things... much better now than when I was hiding behind all the wrong sorts of coping mechanisms...
but, hugs, empathy and understanding are always welcomed :)

Thanks, again, :smile-new:
