You and me both, Feef. I take opiates for pain and have for years. But, when I went into the hospital in May of 2015, I stopped my daily time-release morphine and had no symptoms at all. I have a drink now and then -- well, did because Lyrica and alcohol don't play well together -- but have never been much of a drinker.
But sweets? Hoo boy! I try to keep a handle on it but I like to have a few gummy worms as a snack. Or maybe a few Sugar Babies. I do manage to practice self-control. I don't ever eat an entire bag or even a pint of ice cream.
I read a few years ago that they have mapped a gene that controls addiction. I guess Feef and I don't have it. My heart goes out to all who are having to deal with the alcohol, whether it's themselves or a loved one.
