Just wondering which movies you think based on a story by Stephen King are the best?

Personal favourites of mine are The Dark Half, Christine, The Stand, IT and Misery.

It seems like we have a thread on this. If someone knows it, will you let us know so we can merge them? Thanks!

My favorite is Storm of the Century, followed by Green Mile, Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption, Misery, and Creepshow. There have been some AWFUL ones, too--lol

Shawshank. Also my all time favourite movie. Then Green Mile, Stand By Me, Dead Zone, Misery, and The Mist. Though the order on them changes from time to time.

I know it isn't very close to the source text, but The Shining is my favorite. Other good ones are Dolores, Misery, Storm of the Century, The Green Mile, and Stand By Me.

    CriticAndProud What's wrong with Idris?

Shawshank, The Shining, The Green Mile, IT (technically a miniseries, but oh well).

The Langoliers (yeah, it's a miniseries as well) gets points for this though:

The Green Mile, The Shining and the The Dead Zone were all great. I would give Dolores Claiborne, Christine and Misery an honorable mention.

I recently read SoC. I've seen only a bit of the movie, though. I need to watch it!

My knee jerk reaction to the thread title is to answer that Shawshank is probably the best, but that my favorite is Green Mile. But then I remember Needful Things, Misery, Dolores Claiborne, The Mist, 1408, The Langoliers, and I'm not so sure how to answer.

I notice a lot of praise for Storm of the Century. Need to see that one. Haven't found it available in a region 2 edition. Only region 1 which doesn't play on my DVD. Sigh....

I haven’t seen the Twilight saga movies yet, but hands down Carrie was, and remains, my all time favorite. :)

Yeah, hard to choose. I'd add Big Driver to that list.

Best adaption I'd say was Misery.

Stand By Me, Carrie, the 1979 'Salem's Lot and The Dead Zone are all pretty good as well. I like the Kubrick version of The Shining (I treat it as a separate entity from the novel) and I like Carpenter's Christine.

I know there's at least one such thread (maybe more than one was merged before already), but I can't find any others yet.
