We stopped going out on 12/31 many years ago because in our area, people tend to think that this last day of the year should be spent wrapped around a bottle of hooch then driving themselves home. Do you have big plans for tonight??

Is that where they filmed the bean scene in Blazing Saddles?Same here and not party people anyway. Chances are very good I'll already be in bed before midnight--just another day. Yup, have officially entered "old fart" territory.
Same here! We're generally in bed by 9 or so anyway. My brother and his wife were supposed to come over from Seattle today and stay a couple of days but their dog is acting up (high strung, anyone??) so they have cancelled. They took the dog to my SIL daughter's house last night for her to take care of while they were gone but even without fireworks going off the dog is too stressed out. So, it's going to be just me and my kitties tonight.... Like Marsha said above- I'll be in bed before midnight anyway.

We usually stay at home. The wife's family comes over, and sometimes a few of my kid’s friends who's parents go out for the evening. I make lobster tail & steamed clams. The wife makes a marinated sautéed shrimp dish. Breaded shrimp goes out for the numbskulls. After we eat we put munchies out for the rest of the evening, and play ping pong (which covers the pool table for the holiday season) and family games.
Sparkling non-alcoholic “wine” for the kids. Most adults drink beer, and I’ll start on the scotch around 10pm when things calm down. Champagne for midnight.
God, I’ve gotten old and boring.

Happy Anniversary Scott and Tracy!!!!!...nope, no hi-jinx here...Tracy will be getting ready for our belated Christmas tomorrow, with my son being home and I will be getting underfoot which I'm quite masterful at...today is also our 21st wedding anniversary-which I think we'll celebrate on Saturday when she has the day off work and the "get everything ready & nice" stressors are over for her....

I'm too old nowadays, but holy cow, in my late teens and early 20's? The New Year's Eve parties were events for sure. I have no idea how I survived some of them....We stopped going out on 12/31 many years ago because in our area, people tend to think that this last day of the year should be spent wrapped around a bottle of hooch then driving themselves home.
