I've read this time of the year is prime time for rattlesnake bites in Arizona. Take care.
I'll be sure to take my walking stick when I go out in the neighborhood. Supposedly tapping that on the ground as you walk frightens them off but hopefully I won't get to find out whether that's truth or anecdotal.
The snakes will say to each other, "get out of the way, there's a blind lady coming up the street"
Your best bet seems to be alert at all times and wear protective footwear. Be safe!
I was almost bit once by a rattlesnake. As a kid I was leaning up against an old stump. My father was walking past me and raised his hoe like he was going to strike me with it. The hoe came down beside me and cut off the head of the small rattler that what was on the stump right near my head sunning himself. Also had some run-ins with copperheads.
Sharpen the end to a nice point. Can't hurt....

.....so, as is my usual behavior-I've kidded around....but now, let me take the Village Idjit robe off for a second, and speak from the heart.....whenever the Board is shut down, the day is a little less promising for me, I have come to love everyone here like true family and friends....now, this isn't in any way a guilt trip for Marsha.....I miss her most of all...she has become a dear friend, even though we are miles away....Tracy and I value her camaraderie more than she knows...this is just my way of saying, it's hard to not see everybody-but also, Marsha is a special special woman to have taken on all she has, and still be the epitome of grace.....I wish you no worries and plenty of tan.....be safe m'dear and I'll keep my fingers crossed the trip there and back is uneventful.....much love everyone....
Awwww....I must have something in my eyes as they've gotten a little teary. That is so incredibly kind of you to say, my friend. You and Tracy feel like family to me, too. The time will fly by and before you know it, we'll be back up and carrying on as usual.
Big thanks to Lepplady and osnafrank for taking on their Facebook and Playground groups respectively to take up the slack while the SKMB is closed so no one will have too much withdrawal from their ka-tet here.
I think we all feel the same way, dear GNT. Some of the fine folks here have found their way to The SKMB Ka-Tet group on FB and I cherish seeing a peep here and there. We'd love to have you, and everybody else that joneses as bad as we do.
