there is a morbid interest in such crimes and such criminals--there have been at least a hundred films about Jack the Ripper, who claimed far fewer victims--but there's also a need to understand why they happen. That drive to understand is the basis of art, and that's what I strove for in A GOOD MARRIAGE.
Maybe, but do Law & Order and the other shows "based on true events" owe the victims or the families anything? Do they donate profits to those causes? I have no idea, but I somehow doubt it. I also have no idea if Mr. King donates to any charities similar to them, but with the focus on abuse in many of his works, I would not be surprised.

Mr. King said it best. The need to understand is the basis of art. Was Picasso exploiting the victims (over a thousand) when he painted Guernica? Should he have accepted money for it?
ok so I realize all this posts are old, but his daughter is know writing a book and is on a lot of these tv shows. I have yet to read a good marriage but I think I will read it in the next few days once I dig out full dark and no stars as I have kings books in different spots for reasons.... but what is or if anything is she saying about king and the movie and story now? does she still fell the same way that king was exploiting her family? and such

No problem. I recently saw her on the front page of a magazine (the name eludes me) during a grocery run. I couldn't imagine being the child of such a monster.
I watched her interview on 20/20 and on Dr. Phil. It reals slapped her hard once she found out and emotionally it most be awful.
That's what's so scary about psychopaths like Rader; they can appear deceptively normal, even wholesome and approachable.
