Burt was one handsome man. I read his biography, My Life. I can remember how disappointed I was in it as he was narcissistic and arrogant -- angry. All he said the whole book was "I was the number one box office star for....... years and no one appreciated me."

What I had hoped to read was the amazing stories about his life. He was a fantastic story teller and had a brilliant sense of humor. I wanted more of that.

If you care to and get the chance, try to watch his Dinah Shore interviews on youtube. He was charming and self deprecating and smart. And I wanted more of that.

I just finished reading Deliverance and while I read, the movie was playing in my head. He will always be that guy for me. And Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, The Longest Yard. That was the guy he will be for me. I can't tell you how many times I walked in my house to see my dad watching the Bandit. And laughing. Fond memory. I'd see that and say, "Daaaaad! This again?"

And I would really like to give him a shout out for taking the role in Boogie Nights. I think that was a tough one for him to embrace personally. He wasn't the leading guy. He was the supporting player and he did a great job.

So, rest in peace Burt.

My favorite Burt Reynolds movie was Shamus. There's a scene where

his buddy and researcher is found dead. Burt was so believable in it, with tears and guilt and everything

that's when I realized that he had some real acting chops. Watch it some time.

I also loved the episode of Archer that he was in. So funny and bada$$. Oh, and, my Mom and her co-workers had that pin-up in an out-of-the-way place. That was my first nekkid man ;)

RIP Burt. I love you.

I've had this song in my head for a couple of weeks coz we started a sports show right behind a car repair show and the car show always uses Jerry Reed's Eastbound and Down in the bump rotation...

...I have the same issue with Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town".....it's the theme of a Dirt Racing wrap-up show I produce......

LOL, yup, I've run the board on that car show, too ... but it's been awhile ... feels strange to be called the producer of anything in that respect.... I did not originally put that show together, but I get called a producer anyway.....

I don't know much about dirt racing, is it bikes or cars, or both? I used to run the board on NASCAR at my old job, but our traffic guy stopped doing his NASCAR show here because he had too many other irons in the fire .....
