Man, i need to go back and try this one again. It's the only King book that i never made it past the 3rd chapter. It bored the sh*t out of me.

After i put it down for the third or fourth time, i thought........maybe i've got this all wrong..... maybe it's not actually a novel called Insomnia! Maybe it's a cure. :sweat_more:

Ha! Go ahead VLily - give it another go! Sometimes, where we are in life makes it harder to relate to certain stories. Mayhap now you would enjoy it!

I had the same problem, but on my fourth try I fell in love. I have re-read this numerous times, maybe try one more time?

I liked this one quite a bit, thought I've noticed the same thing as TN--people seem to love it or hate it. Atropos was one of Mr. King's creepiest characters, IMHO. The only thing that bothered me was that the music the main character listened to was anachronistic--I'm of the character's generation, and it didn't fit. Pish posh, though--It was an absorbing story anyway :)

And VL, I had the same reaction with THE STAND, years ago. It took me three tries to get past the opening chaps, but once I did... WOW. In my top 5 of all books ever.

Im really confused with people saying this book is boring?!?! I read it once many years ago probably about 6 or 7 years ago and I dont even remember what i thought of it but i am re reading it now !! I was blazing through the dark tower books but I felt i needed a break once i got to book 5, not that the dark tower isn't an amazing adventure but at the rate im reading it it will be over too soon!! I want to hold onto it for a little longer.... so i decided to pick insomnia back up since I read that it has alot of dark tower references and connections.... but I easily flew through the first three chapters on my first sitting, i guess im so excited for it since i just re read IT so its fun to be back in derry and the landscape is so fresh in my mind that its very easy for me to picture exactly where ralph is!! Just the mention of the library and bang a full picture of the adult and childerns section and the hallway that connects them and the first mention of the nut house and immediatly wondering what the staff there thinks of good ole henry... anyway im loving insomnia so far and enjoying the dark tower break and still super excited to get back to it!! Gotta love SK!!! hahahah now that i mention "SK" and those being his initials well my first initial is the same and recently my girlfriend asked me "how did you get your initials engraved into all your books!?!?!" hahahahah
