Mr. King has written 2 novels set in western PA. From a Buick 8, and Christine. Yes PA has been set in parts of other stories (Lisey's story, and Bad Little Kid). And other stories have vehicle characters (uncle Otto truck). But only two novels set in western Pennsylvania and only 2 have cars as characters. is this more than a coincidence?

...welcome!....to address your question, I've never heard or read any items that would make West PA a garage of ideas....

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the idea for Buick came on a drive back up from Florida when he stopped at a gas station in west PA that had similarities to the one described at the beginning of the book. That doesn't explain why Christine is set there though.
