"Cell" film acquired

Here's an article over at Deadline talking about a deal with Cell.

Help me out with this. Does this mean the movie won't necessarily get a super-wide release, considering the studio that did the deal is not a Warner Bros. or a Paramount? Will it be a hybrid VOD-theatrical? Or will it just be VOD?

I would have to assume this gets into at least 2000 theaters given Cusack's/Jackson's participation.

My understanding from what Steve told me yesterday is that this will get wide release and that the distributors will be putting in a big chunk of change to promote it.

I'm the opposite-- didn't care for the book, but I love the cast. Will definitely be seeing this one when it comes out.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Cell. I'm almost kinda getting tired of all the virus created zombie themes. SK's idea is off the wall enough to make the film fun I hope the producers include a few comedic moments.

My vote goes to Read first. I'm going to reread Cell before the movie is released. The film makers will probably change a few things - try not to let the changes upset you

Cool idea, casting the same core actors from 1408, that's a great marketing angle that probably helped sell the movie, because 1408 has done really well on home video.

As soon as I read that the film was in post production I started the book again

I've been really excited for this adaptation for a while now! Accurate actual movie release date aside though, is there any word on when we can get our hands on a trailer?

I've changed my mind about rereading Cell before I see the movie. I think I'll enjoy the movie more if my memory of the novel is still hazy. I already know I love the novel so I want to give the movie a fair chance

Sounds good. Surprised this hasn't been done already--it seemed tailor-made for the big screen.

I don't mind changes, just so long as the movie is GOOD.
