I'm going to stand up for Great Expectations which seems to be taking a bit of a hammering, I found it very engaging and it certainly didn't put me off Dickens. It gets a lot of complaints from modern audiences for the 'twist' ending which anyone who's watched a movie or read a book in the last fifty years will see coming right from the off, but that wasn’t such an issue when it was first published. For anyone who finds it too long or too dull might I suggest the South Park adaptation which I think was part of Season 4.
But yeah, A Tale of Two Cities every time.
