I have no doubt Fannie Flagg is a good author. But the first thing I think of when I read/hear her name is this, with the fondest of memories.Need a laugh? Need a short break from the Emperor of Ice Cream? Then I have a couple funny novels to recommend. The first is an author from my hometown that I've met twice. Her first novel, called Coming Attractions (and later named Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man) is so funny that I had tears in my eyes. It is quintessential southern fare mixed with ribald and irreverent humor of a child narrator. The author is Fannie Flagg.
The other author is Clyde Edgerton. I'm recommending A Walk Across Egypt and Raney. Both are hilarious.
I'm a librarian and try to read in many genres and I'm open to any suggestions for comic novels. Any favorites?
