Concept album based on a novel

Hi,
I joined this forum just now to ask what are the rules and regulations in using a King novel as inspiration for a musical album? It would be including some direct (short) quotes from the novel as well as the story at least to some extent in the lyrics.

The album would be non-commercially made without a label and publication would be also non-commercially online (Youtube).

Would that require permission or is acquiring actual publishing rights required? If so, that usually is quite expensive and, for a project I'm doing just for fun, a little too much.

Hope somebody here can help me out or point me to the right direction.

Also, I did multiple searched without luck so if this topics has already been discussed on this forum I apologize the repetition.

I think if it's only a few lines and not intended for public sale then it's usually permitted, but I will definitely double check with Moderator in case I have this wrong.
I know that Stephen doesn't allow people to use his characters and story lines in writing, but I'm not 100% sure when it comes to music inspired by his works.
