Hi all,

I seriously need to get down to some work and stop procrastinating...I'm guessing we've all been there, so much to do and the thought of getting started, well, that's the tough part. I would appreciate any solutions and shared stories of procrastination.

Here I am, one week left of my holidays and so much lesson planning to do, let alone the couple of writing comps I wanted to enter....aargh! help! somebody kick me ;;D

I know, everything seems last minute. I wouldn't say it's procrastination, but maybe distraction? Boredom? I get bored easily at my job. I hate sitting at a computer in my office all day. That's the editor's life. Sit on my computer, answer emails, then go sit in meetings and answer more questions. I want to write things I love and I get bored planning everyone else's writing. Or answering everyone's writing desires expect my own. OK, that was a little vent. It's Wednesday...:m_rage:

Ha! I truly went on a rant this morning. I do have a good job, I just wish it was different. I shouldn't really complain anyhow. I have it better than most people!

Of course, I do have work to do, but am procrastinating to come check the board AND was watching "The Dead Zone" on Sundance, which seems to be on this month. Love Christopher Walken. Hubba, Hubba!

Hi what me helps against procastinating is a website blocker add-on to block the SKMB. I use LeechBlock for firefox.
And to get it started I use the promodoro technic. There are several apps for all kind of mobiles (android, IOS) and operation systems available (mac, windows etc.). You work for 25 minutes then you get a break for five minutes it helps me to concentrate on boring tasks like reading stuff for university.
I keeps me sitting in front of my laptop and not getting a glas of water. By the way prepare your workspace with beverages like coffee, water and tee. Don't eat or drink to much sugar it makes you twitchy.
And if you have to write something there are more evil programs on the web. For example there is a program that deletes words if you don't write fast enough.

That's pretty smart, I might have to give that a try.

Leechblock? It sounds like something you would apply before swimming - ewww - but yes, maybe I should give it a try. I hardly ever access SKMB from work but I sometimes spend too much time on here when I should be doing housework at home!
