I noticed that the official Dark Tower Movie Facebook page is posting that Sony is auctioning off a lot of items from the movie. Some folk, including myself, have wondered if this means that Sony is giving up onthe Dark Tower franchise & moving on.

Thoughts? Especially from Ms. Moderator.

Depends on whether the items would be used in another film and if they would survive the experience. Look at how specific the items are to the DT story, then think about how sturdy they may (or may not) be. Don't jump to any conclusions.

Hopefully those were 'movie' props and they need to make room for the 'TV' props. I understand they need to be different due to the screen aspect ratio...yeah that's it...the screen aspect ratio.

I wouldn't read into it much. Every movie has a new budget, and new items are made. Most studios don't hold onto props, they are a liability and storage costs money.

Standard procedure at the end of a movie production--check out the auctioneers other offerings. I'm sure any subsequent production would want to create their own costumes and props. Probably costs more to store costumes and props rather than recreate them.
