Derry question

    Hi.

I just recently started reading Insomnia. In the scene where Ralph is being driven home by Trigger Vachon, one of them recalls Derry's downtown section falling into the canal during a storm. Did this happen? In which book / story?

    Thanks

    Welcome to the Board!

Dreamcatcher is coming to mind but I'd have to try to find that section to verify as I could be confusing it with something else or misremembering that part.

The destructive storm happens at the end of IT

Just did a little more research. In Dreamcatcher it was the reference to the Standpipe being destroyed in the 1985 flood and the plaque dedicated to the victims of the flood I was thinking of.

Yep -- the standpipe fell over, the library imploded and there was a lot of other destruction. "THE WORST SPRING STORM IN MAINE HISTORY" - from the May 31, 1985 section of IT.

If it was a dairy question I might have been able to help out. All the best, Milkum.
