My aunt is in town and I'm going to dinner with my mom and aunt tonight so I won't be here tonight. I'll have to read this one tomorrow.
It's a quick read but I think you have to like mysteries (however I did find that she wrapped it up rather quickly near the end) Have a great time with Mom and Auntie!

Side Note:
Bev Vincent post in RIP concerning the death of Dennis Etchison. I would like to suggest the group read one of his short stories for next week, June 5.

The enclosed link (you can back space with arrows to read an introduction where SK is mentioned, and see a list of his other short stories)

The Walking Man can be found here. It starts on page 23/ ends on 36

That sounds good!

I will jump in now and give my impression of the Sue Grafton story - the mystery was quite easily solved it seemed. What I found interesting was the second part where she describes her childhood.

It must be so hard to be the child of an alcoholic and/or alcoholics. She went on to overcome it however and became quite a successful author.

I really enjoyed her writing style and read many of her books in the past. The female detective had a wry sense of humour.

Must log off soon so I am giving my opinion now - thanks!

I love Sue Grafton. I think she writes very reader friendly and interesting stories. Very efficient. I am up to V in her alphabet series and I'm so sad she died and won't finish Z. She had a title, Z is for Zero, but hadn't started the work when she died of Appendix Cancer! I've never heard of this!

This story was a smooth reading, nice little whodunnit. I love the character Kinsey Millhone (which her family says was very much Sue herself.) . Even though it was a lot of pages, it was a quick read because Sue writes with an inviting ease.

R.I.P. Sue and thanks.

...I must admit, that coming from a reading history of hard boiled detectives, courtesy of my dad-Sue’s “other self” is damned good!...have been aware of her work for years, just never ventured into her world...many thanks for the chance...her writing is taut and wastes no words...love the sense of snark that permeates this piece....I may venture into her “office” again....

First read for this author too. I am expanding my authors!!

I enjoy crime, thrillers and this fit the bill. Good characters, started to suspect the husband before the end. Embezzlement , one big mistake ( packing that suitcase), betrayal. Nice story.
