Waveriders (2008)
A documentary on the origins of Irish surfing. When I think of surfing, I tend to think of the tropical places, not Ireland. The documentary starts off telling about George Freeth, a man of Irish decent (living in Hawaii) who was instrumental in popularizing surfing in the early 1900s. He was also instrumental in creating the job of lifeguard. Once the history lesson is over, the documentary gets back to Ireland and has lots of magnificent surfing footage. It looks really cold though. Cillian Murphy narrates.
