Hello all.

I have been a hardcore Stephen King fan since I bought IT when I was 13 years of age. The version I bought (and still have, although the front cover has now come off) is of two red rimmed eyes, wide apart staring from a street drain. When my dad noticed the Author was Stephen King, he said "Isn't that the guy who writes all that horror stuff, you're going to be okay with that?" I assured him I would be fine. After I finished the book, I avoided street drains and I swear I heard strange noises from the bathroom sink ;) My fave line/sentence was King describing Ben Hanscomb bouncing to his feet.

When so called Stephen King fans say they love his books, I straight away ask them if they've read The Dark Tower series. The response is usually "No..never heard of that". I then sneer "You're not a Stephen King fan then".

My signature at work is "Long Days and Pleasant Nights". Unfortunately, the responses I get are "Where's that from" not "A fellow Dark Tower fan!" :(

That's why I get a little pissy when King is pigeon holed as a horror writer. Sure that's his stock in trade but The Dark Tower series was pretty trippy and nearly all of his damn books are connected somehow.

As an aside, when ever I get startled, my reflex is to yell out "F*ck Me Freddy!" :D

Thank you big big, for having a Stephen King forum where I can discuss all things King.

PS.

I read Dr. Sleep in one and half days. Very hard book to put down and it has elements of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - where the two main characters are apart for nearly half the book and finally come together.

PPS.

I am undertaking a Masters in Arts (Writing) course and decided to use Chattery Teeth as my text for Screenplay Adaptation. Got 82 out of a 100. When the source material is King. It's easy to just cut and paste ;)

Loved your post . . .

Welcome to the Board.

Well I don't like being threatened. Maybe joining this forum wasn't such as a good idea....
...no threat in any way, shape or form...you'll find as a King fan-that Unca Steve doesn't always much care for complete accuracy on firearms and it's a bit of an inside joke here-and one in which I should not have sprung on a new member...

No, no worries. I just didn't want you to think he was serious. He's the resident goofball and would never mean to hurt someone --sometimes things get lost in translation.

The resident Richie Tozier? ; )
Wow - that is the first time I have heard it put that way!
By Jove - I think he's got it! :waaaht:

I cry your pardon. Dammit, I got to stop talking Dark Tower talk or I'll have to read it all over again!
