.....you know that Tracy and I believe in the paranormal......she was downloading pics the other evening from her camera, and came across the photo below.....this was taken when we were moving into my parent's place, my childhood home.....only in this pic....all others taken at the same time are completely clear.....I like to think it's my mom, dad and all the critters checking things out....two large white fog areas to the left and then all the orbs......

That's sweet actually, GNTLGNT. No malevolence there. I actually have a ghost bunny story I don't think I've told which is kind of sweet.

Here is one I don't think I've told. And though I've said I only had three really strange things happen to me I've thought of half a dozen more since. One of them I told on Weekend Playground. It's funny the things you forget until other things trigger the memory. This one isn't sweet.

Some things happen that make you wonder. When we were teens and Kevin lived in a trailer park I would come over and visit and sometimes we would go over to his next door neighbor and burn one with him. We were over there, me, Kevin, and Frank, when a girl who looked like a young Stevie Nix came over. She wasn't feeling too well. Her face was strained and washed of color. She thought perhaps a few tokes might help and joined our circle.

What was it she thought was the problem? Voodoo. Say what? She had fooled around with this woman's husband and the woman had put a curse on her. Sure. She better see a doctor is what we all said. Her stomach pained her something awful and she bent over with the strain of it. No seriously, see a doctor. That stuff is nothing to play with. No, she insisted, it wasn't anything a doctor could help with. It was voodoo. She said it so convincingly that whether or not I believed I damn well knew she did.

She sat and smoked with us awhile. We were all looking at her. Her face betrayed her pain. I felt one of us was going to have to take her to the doctor. After a bit she said the pain had eased. Well thank Marie Laveau or whatever right? That **** was scary. It could be an appendicitis chrissakes. Her face looked completely different eased of all signs of pain. Then the pain came back. Like an evil beast come to claim it's rightful victim.

It was hard to look at her. I felt so sorry for her. I wished so much there was something I could do. I wished I could take her pain for her. That was the wrong thing to wish. It came true. Instantly. You don't believe? I didn't either. Makes not one damn. It came true. It entered my guts like a thing with claws. I felt the blood leave my face and a clammy cold take hold. It was like the worst diarrhea you ever felt only just the cramp part. It was scary awful. Like a thing alive and willful. As I broke out in a cold sweat trying to handle it I heard her say she was feeling better.

It couldn't be. I tried to hold on. I tried not to believe. It hurt anyway. I could not concentrate on this being BS for the enormous scary pain. Not believe? That simply wasn't an option. It wasn't that it was insistent. It just was. Belief did not enter into it. I heard her laughing and feeling so much better and talking about it and how we just did not know. I knew. Locked in my bubble of concentration I knew. I knew beyond any doubt. This was not play. This was real. Oh I understand how this will be disbelieved. I don't blame you. I would. I would be smug in my logical sane world thinking this guy is full of it and some kind of attention seeker story teller whose mind has tricked him into thinking some false memory is real. But it just isn't that way. I remember. You don't forget a pain like that. It scared the devil out of me and I have a lot of devil in me.

I tried to hold out. I tried to out think it. It wasn't true. It wasn't possible. It made a lie out of everything I thought. I gave in and gave up. I wussed out. I wished the pain back to her. Instantly it left. It did. Like it drew from my body and never was. Only I knew now it was where I had doubted before. She was hurting again. Now I knew exactly what she was feeling. I felt ashamed but more than that I felt relieved. I was ashamed at feeling relieved. But thank God it had left. No matter where it had gone at least it wasn't in me anymore. Maybe I could have taken it for my wife or child but maybe not. It would be a near thing. I took a drag of what came round.

After a bit she said she was feeling better again. I started looking around the circle immediately. Frank. I could see it in his face. He was pale and concentrating. I knew the feeling. His mouth was set and his jaw locked. His eyes were staring at nothing. He held out a lot longer than me. All this time conversation was going on and I participated but I watched him. He wasn't saying a word. He was lost in that feeling. I wanted to say something to him but I was too afraid it would center on me again.

Finally she said it was hurting her again and I looked at Frank. He was breathing easy again. I could visibly see the weight of it off him. He was a better man than I though. He had taken it twice as long. I decided right then I wouldn't say a word about it. I would forget it ever was and think of it as some fluke mental quirk to fade away. When we all parted I told her again to see a doctor. She said she had two more days of it to go. I could not imagine two days of that. I wanted to pat her shoulder or give her a hug. I did not dare touch her.

Back at Kevin's we stood around in the streetlight talking about her. I had made up my mind to forget what happened and pretend it never did. Kevin said he had felt so sorry for her that he had wished he had the pain instead. Holy hell I had missed that one. It must have been that first time she said the pain had eased. He hadn't lasted long. Frank was amazed and said he had done the same thing. They talked with each other excited that they had felt the same thing and had someone to confirm it. I just listened. I never admitted my part. It was like it would just be superfluous at that point. If it hadn't been for them talking after maybe I could have forgotten. I wanted to. It does not fit in with the logical world. But I have a really good memory.

Are you sure you want someone who attracts such weird stuff to visit, Sundrop?

Edit: I keep forgetting not to be explicit but it WAS like That Seventies Show back in the seventies after all.

Scratch I know that voodoo can be scary stuff. I'm glad you only had that one brush with it.

Your mention of bunny ghost reminded me of the kitty ghosts I've had encounters with. The first was at the first house my husband and I lived in when we came to Seattle. It was an older house, pretty small with a full basement. The washer and dryer were down there so I had to get used to it. One day I was headed up from the basement when I felt a cat brush by me. I thought it was our kitty but when I got into the living room (very small house) she was curled up on the couch fast asleep. I encountered the ghost cat again and saw that it was a kitten, a calico or tuxedo -- it was black and white. Our kitty was a grey tabby. It followed us to the home we bought further north in Everett. Visitors to our home saw her, too. She doesn't seem to have followed us out here to the Farm. But that's okay because there was a ghost kitty waiting for us here.

This kitty made itself known on a visit to my Mother-in-Law's house on the property. My daughter and I were sleeping in her bedroom (she was traveling) when, one morning, I heard a tiny "meow" and felt a cat lie down between us. I just figured that one of my niece's cats had got in. But when I opened my eyes, there was no cat. We were close enough together that I would have felt a cat move away. The theory is that this is the spirit of one of the farm kitties who was hit by a car in front of then house.

I have many more stories but no more time right now.

Nobody ever talks about ghost animals do they? I bet everyone who has ever had a cat who used to jump on the bed with them has had the experience of feeling the bump of a cat on the bed after that cat has passed though. What's weird is when your spouse confirms they felt it too.

Yeah it's late. I'll tell my Thumper story another time.

Lived in a village called Little Sutton in Chester in England when I was young, we moved there because of my dad's job. We lived in an old house, three quarters of it was blocked off, we lived in the last quarter. Lots of weird stuff happened, I remember some of it, most vivid was each time I got into bed someone would start to tickle the soles of my feet, I would throw back the covers and check under the bed but nothing was ever there. Another one was I could feel the weight of someone sitting on my bed and start stroking my hair, again I'd sit up but nobody was there. My dad has some weird stuff happen to him there too. I'll post it later if anyone is interested.

I was walking downtown today, and it was a pretty bleak day. I passed a bus stop, one of those plexiglass enclosure things, with several people inside. There was a light rain. And a woman inside yelled my first name. Then yelled it again. There's no mistake, she clearly said my name. I stopped and looked at her, and she said, "Why did you tell Jackie that (a name -- either it was intelligible or I don't remember) was dating a man instead of a woman?" I said, "What?" And she repeated, "Why did you tell Jackie that (*?) was dating a man instead of a woman?!" She looked possibly homeless, and I had been searching her face, trying to find a hint of some recognizable feature in this person. Could she have been someone I'd known or worked with before who has fallen on hard times? After a half a second of deliberation, I said, "I don't know what you're talking about!" But not cruelly, at least I hope not, and kept walking. There were several people inside the bus thing, but as I recall, they didn't seem to pay much attention. I've lived in this area for only about 5 yrs and probably haven't left that great of a social footprint. I couldn't detect anything in this woman that reminded me of anyone I've ever known. I talked to my mother on the phone tonite, but never mentioned it. But suddenly, repeating the story, I've got the damn creeps! The only Jackie I can recall was a cousin by marriage I haven't seen since she & I were kids. You know what bothers me? How the f-ck did she know my name! What was this? Am I gonna die?!!

I have had a few encounters like this before. Both good and bad.
It's a creepy situation any way you look at it, but the most important thing is how did that woman make you feel? In your gut?
What distinct feeling did you get from HER? Was it particularly sickening? Or disturbing in a dark way? Or did she seem to be friendly, harmless and evoke curiosity in you?
I've met a few people who were strange, and sometimes somewhat puzzling, but kindly, and I tended to be drawn to them.
And I have had odd but pleasant conversations with them.
I have also met a few people that were pretty ordinary, but exuded a vague feeling of malice and/or a sort of quiet, unsettling feeling of malevolence.
Things that are definitely there, but you just can't quite put your finger on it at the time. You know?

Back in 2008, (a little while after Lent that year, I think) Firetalion started a thread titled "What's the creepiest Character you've ever met?", that title is not verbatim, I'm sure, but close enough that you get the idea.
Ms.Mod and some others around here might remember it.
I'll post here what I posted there later.....and maybe another incident or two.

In the mean time:

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."
From the Book Of Hebrews 13:2

......when you think about it, you'll figure out what is benevolent and what is not.

Well my dad was downstairs in the house one night and someone started banging on the front door, our DOD went nuts and ran into the hall barking like crazy, my dad followed and shouted out "who's there" . He got no answer except for a continued hammering on the door. He undid the lock and wrenched open the door, nobody there, he looked down at the dog who had gone silent and it looked back up at him as if to say "no way am I going out there". Another time at Christmas eve my dad was walking back towards the house from the portable cabin he used as an office, he'd rung his mom to wish her a happy Christmas, it was late at night and a security guard popped out of nowhere and demanded to know who he was, my dad said he worked for so and so and that we lived in the house, the guard refused to believe him, my dad brought the guy in and showed him around the house, the guy went pale and swore to my dad that he patrolled around the house every night and had never seen any sign of life from the house, no lights no noise, had shone his torch through the windows and saw nothing, no furniture just empty rooms. Dad had to give him a brandy to calm him down, the guy practically bolted from the house. There's more but I'll save it for another day.

When i first move to America i live ina Haunted House were 4 people were killed...really bad vibes about that place espcially in the basement i would see tings that are not good so i tried to stay away from home alot. Luckily i didnt have to live there long because my husband let me move in with him. I definetly believe in Paranormalstuff an it scare me so i never mess with Ouija Boards or nothing like that.
