Sam just learned a new lesson : never ordered a "Stephen King" Book at Amazon, just ordered at the publisher itself (a reason why i did not trust amazon much)
But seriously, this is the first time i encountered an issue like this (and Sam is quite terrified)
I have just been looking on Amazon (Europe) site and came across a book for sale called Descendants by Stehen King! Reading the reviews most of the readers say this is NOT a Stephen King book but by someone using his name! Surely this is not LEGAL - can StephenKing.com do something about it? Maybe it's different in the states but they wouldn't get away with it here in the UK.
Best wishes from a 'Devoted Reader' - Pauline
How close to an actual book can you make your's before it becomes libelous? Actually plagiarist. Say if I changed all the character names and the settings and some other stuff and it was obvious that I had ripped off someone's book could the author and publisher take legal action? Has this happened to King? I remember reading where John D. MacDonald came across some guy that basically did a word for word rip-off but just changed the character's names. The book was taken off and the author was gone.
