I know that I have used Amazon lately to find some books that are missing in my collection. I am a member of the Stephen King Book Club, but I have only receive one book so far. Just wondering where you all get your new releases, rare finds or just general SK merchandise. Of course, the SK store is always helpful. However, it doesn't have his books.

I hate to say it but I use Amazon (not popular I know), I used to go into town and get them from Waterstones or places like that but the cost of petrol and parking didn't make it very feasible and also with Amazon you can sometimes get a First Edition which is always a bonus.

I LOVE Amazon. No shame :)

I like to try and support the local economy when possible but damn if Amazon just isn't the most convenient thing around. :) You can find anything that is in print. I buy almost all my music on Amazon (or HDTracks) because the music stores are almost all gone and what's left doesn't have the selection of Amazon.

I'm the same. There are two local bookstores near here, but they rarely get Mr. King's (or many of the other authors I'm partial to) books--mainly specialize in LDS books and 'women's titles' (I guess they figure men are religious or illiterate-lol).

I was a Borders girl - I worked there part time for years (in addition to my full time job), mostly because I loved being there. They PAID ME to walk around with a cup of coffee and talk to people about books, and lovingly rearrange books on tables, and do the kids storytime. It was heaven. So I have a grudge against B&N - they made it, Borders didn't. I prefer to buy used books anyway - Goodwill is where I have my best luck. But for years I bought new, with an amazing discount. I miss Borders so much. It was my home away from home. We don't have any local bookstores.

Here in the UK, the last bunch of books I have bought new (including joyland and Dr sleep) have been half price from release date at wh Smith's. Joyland was £4 and Dr sleep was £10.

For 2nd hand books I use play.com - all free postage and packaging, the cheapest I have bought a book for on play is £1.60, the dearest was Colorado kid - stupidly rare in the UK, usually on eBay for £25+ I got mine for £5.50.

Pop up charity stalls in shopping centres are good too, I got my dark tower journey started with one if those after finding gunslinger for 50 pence.
