So, I just recently read this starting this summer. I finished it and now it is my favortie SK novel so far(used to be IT until I read this masterpiece). I did not read the original, I read The Stand:Complete and Uncut Version, so i guess saved me time from reading the original one, but maybe in the future i will read that one too to see differences. I love this book and the concept and everything. I have heard a few rumors of there being another miniseries? or something, but I am not sure, i want to watch the original miniseries and see what its like but I have heard it isn't as good as the book. There are so many scenes I like and I will try to list my favs(SPOILERS AHEAD:
- when Stu and Fran finally get together(after Fran thought she lost him to Dayna)
- Pretty much ANY scene with The Kid in it, I don't know why, but he was so funny and his little catchphrase"happy crappy"
- Nick and Tom Cullen scenes, and in a way they were so heartbreaking(the saddest was when Tom has that dream when him and Stu are on their way back to the Free Zone and Tom tells him how excited he is to see Nick but nick is dead
.)which leads to my next one:
- When Stu and Tom journey back to the Free Zone(the Christmas scene, all that)and i serously thought Stu was gonna die
- I dont really think this is a favorite but the scenes with Rita and Larry were always weird/sad, and i had mixed feelings when she died
- When Larry first met Nadine and Joe/Leo and he was putting a hose in gorun?(something like that) and he noticed the "silly little pantomime" he was doing, and how bad he wanted her and eventually it was too late for her b/c he was with Lucy Swann(kinda sad she was too late and she ended up with Harold which she just ended up leaving him for dead with a shattered leg
.
- When Nick SHOWED Julie Lawry how to act and hit her when she was being a butthole for manipulating Tom(but she got back by slashing their tires.)
- When I found out Frannie's baby Peter(named after her father)was okay
- Mixed feelings when Harold tried(and succeeded the first time) to kiss fran and he told her he loved her but she didnt
- The "no great loss" chapter
- The chapters with Len Starkey and whats his name and the chapter with the Tv broacasting with the news, executions and that one guys name I dont remember that was a radio host
- heartbreaking scene where Nick was with Jane Baker her last moment of life and he dressed her in her wedding dress
- for some reason when Nick let Mike Childress go
- Charles Campion scenes
- Stu and his pals before flu outbreak
- for some odd reason the fight between Fran and Carla Goldsmith(her mother)
-Lloyd and Poke scenes and when Lloyd was in jail and was about to eat Trask
(but Randall Flagg came)
I could go on and on but I won't.....
