This one is in the Linville Gorge.....started at Table Rock, and has spread to over 1800 acres. Firefighters are still working to control the blaze.
I can smell the smoke, and the haze is thick.....made for an eerie drive home from work yesterday.

If there is something fortunate, it is that the fire is contained in a national forest area, and there are no homes in jeopardy as of now.
Also, there have been no injuries reported thus far.
My heart bleeds for the wildlife and the forest

...I pray for you honey and may Gan keep the rest of the residents safe as well....the animals and flora and fauna?....I weep....also, I offer up pleas to whatever power of the White is listening-to keep the smoke-eaters safe, and return them to their homes and loved ones as soon as humanly possible...

I'm still a good distance away. Hopefully, firefighters will have it under control soon. The fire started in a picnic area on Tuesday, and was about 40 or so acres. Last night, it had burned over 1800. The photographer is taking the photos from the same mountains that I hike every year near Grandfather Mountain.....it's an odd feeling seeing the photos.
To help give some perspective.....I'm about 10 miles from where the photos were taken, and about 30 miles from the fire.

I know you said you're not super close, Sunny, but please please please be safe!!
30 miles is too close for comfort when it comes to fire. Keep yourself safe Sunny. I hope all your important stuff is already in the car so that if you have to, you can just GO.
Thanks, y'all.....my area is still safe.
The smoke haze yesterday was awful. It was as thick as fog, and the smell left me with a sick headache. They are warning us today about the possibility of a super fog if the smoke mixes with actual fog in the area.
The fire has grown to a 2700 acre fire as of last night.....here's a link to the latest local report.
The fire has jumped the southern containment line.

Fires can jump 30 miles in a blink of an eye if the wind is right. Be safe girl!
