Hi all
Im new to the forum, from Vic Australia. Reading via my beloved Kindle AND the odd paperback these days!!
Just literally finished reading The Stand... what a mammoth read! Hoping there is a thread on this new forum to discuss it!!
My mother in law bought me Doctor Sleep for christmas so I now have to get cracking on The Shining first!
Anyone else from Oz?
I'm new to Kings novels, i have always been a Grisham and Courtenay fan, have read a few of Thomas Harriss and decided to embark on King.
Looking forward to having the s*&^ scared out of me!
I remember IT scaring me as a kid, I hope the book is a ripper!!
Also saw Mr Mercedes or whatever it is called, is due in June 2014... that looks like a great read!
Anyways, wanted to say hi and look forward to chatting with other King fans about the books!

Thanks FlakeNoir. I'm very excited about the new world of reading I'm about to embark on.
I really enjoyed The Stand and chose to read it first as I had read reviews and it was meant to be one of the best King novels out.
I did start on Joyland previously but I was also reading the Hannibal series at the same time and that got my attention more, so I gave Joyland the flick. I will pick it up again though!!
Glad there are some Aussies about, but that doesnt really matter i guess does it? I have 'liked' Kings Facebook page and am enjoying the updates and info.
Going to start The Shining tomorrow. I hope its a good read!

I think you'll like The Shining, it's one of his 'classic's' and will set you up nicely for Doctor Sleep. I think you'll probably like Joyland too once you've got a few of his others under your belt.

I'm kind of jealous of your clean SK book slate... :biggrin2:

Welcome to the SKMB Devannah! I think you're going to love your book journey with King. The Stand was my first as well, and I was immediately hooked! And then I read IT - could we be twinners (you'll get that one of these days). Enjoy the ride!
