My great-grandmother died Friday night, complications from surgery. She was 98. Luckily, she was able to pass at home--where she'd lived for 70 years. The last four or five years she'd suffered badly from Alzheimer's; she would often try escaping her house, insisting she didn't live there. As well, she often told anyone who would listen that she was waiting for her husband, my great-grandfather, to come home from work. He passed in 1994. If there's an afterlife, I hope they've found each other again, in the dark. And I hope she's no longer confused.

This is very hard, on all of us. She was the center of my family on Dad's side. Please keep us in your prayers.
