...I'm still that way and I'm 55 old friend.....the legal system is a joke.....vengeance/justice needs meted out immediately....not strung along for years.....In my younger days I was very pro-death penalty. I'm now 48 and I've been a full-time police officer for the past sixteen years (and three months). Strangely I find that my taste for blood and vengeance has diminished as the years have gone by and I have to deal with the carnage that people can commit. I'm not necessarily anti-death penalty, but my enthusiasm for it has definitely waned. Not sure why. Maybe because I'm a little closer to my own end. Easier to be more in favor of death when one is twenty I guess. Especially other people's death. We (well at least I was) tend to be more self-righteous when we're younger.
This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Tom Hanks, along with the other guard's acting is impeccable as is Michael Clarke Duncan's portrayal of John Coffey.
A fantastic book, a great movie and a wonderful cast!!
I couldn't agree more! I can't imagine a better casting decision for John Coffey. His performance was spot on. We lost him way to soon. One of my favorite King novels and film adaptations. Speaking of loosing talented people...I have this book on audio. Frank Muller did a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life. He also did a great job narrating the Dark Tower series. He will also be missed.
