Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe Matthew mCcoughney and Idris alba ( pretty sure I misspelled their names) are the man in black and Roland. Just my opinion but if these 2 were switched would be better for the cast and be able to stay truer to the story. Alba would be great in man in black and Matthew as Roland is perfect. Plus all the racial relationship that formed with Roland and Odette would not have to be changed or probably totally omitted. Not trying to start a s#*% storm here just seems better this way.

Ed Harris from the current series Westworld on HBO would have been an excellent Roland. I don't care who plays the Man in Black because his part is supposed to be small in the first novel, i.e. the Great White Shark whom you hear about and see in the distance. I'm not a fan of the fact that in this "re-imagining" he will be a main character in a typical Hollywood binary store.

I can't see Ed Harris as Roland. You need someone over six feet. I know Tom Cruise is playing Jack Reacher, and I thought he did a pretty good job in the first movie, but I still like it if the movie makers try to stick with what's in the books. Someone dark haired or at least brown hair. Someone that can have a good six day growth. Sort of Rangy, but not muscle-bound. Hard eyes, but not degenerate.

meh, didn't he work alone ?

For the most part yes, but I think you waived your right to "meh" anything when you told everyone else who had different objections to get over it (Roland's casting). :D I'm not being snarky, just consistent. It is clear from what we have seen that they are doing a typical Hollywood binary with the Roland at one end and the Man in Black at the other. This is unfortunate and doesn't bode well for the film, but then again very little in my opinion bodes well for the film at this point.

You just described my first choice for Roland: Viggo Mortensen.

Viggo played a gangster in David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises. Good flick.
Thanks, I'll have to check that movie out. What annoys me is when they( for instance even on SKMB) post pictures of "the making of such and such a movie", and they just show the actors standing in front of a blue screen. Then I'm thinking about that when I go and see the movie. Like someone posted a picture of Elba standing in front of a blue screen shooting or something and I now when I go and see the movie will think about that.

Oh man, for real. I try to avoid as much as possible all those behind-the-scenes stuff before the film comes out. It really messes with the experience.
