Has King ever said exactly who or what Andre Linoge was?

I saw this recently, and occurred to me that Linoge could have been lying about his name, expecting somebody to make the Legion connection and think he is a demon from the bible, when he was "just" a sorcerer or something. Has Stephen King actually said what the answer is anywhere?
