Hi everyone.
John from London here.
Been a big fan of the adaptations of King novels, but become a true fan after reading several of them. Amazing prose and ideas and CHRISTINE is a better book than the film made out. I liked the extension of the old man's spirit being part of this evil car. That said, I saw the Carpenter film recently in rep here in London at an evening screening and loved seeing it again.
SALEM'S LOT was big on British TV on it's premiere back in 1981 and it played again over two nights in 1983, which was when I first saw it. Would have been interesting to see how Romero would have handled the book (DAWN producer Richard B Rubinstein told of this in an interview with STARBURST around 1984)
CREEPSHOW was pretty good too, first saw this on VHS back in the spring of 1983, but my favourite King adaptations remain the 1976 CARRIE and THE DEAD ZONE (phenomenal performance from Christopher Walken and an understated performance from a post-PINK PANTHER Herbert Lom.
Anyway, I am up for chat if anyone wishes. Nice to be part of the community.
