carrie's younger brother is over here now..... perhaps it's him!!!
Ooohh, now that would be hilarious. Honestly, the fact he only went in for the wi-fi really bugs me. This summer in Greece I really noticed how much people are addicted to their social media interactions, and at the cost of real life social interactions. Every day/night people would be practically super-glued to their phones/tablets, and the most important thing was getting the wi-fi code from whatever bar/restaurant they were in. They would sit and ignore each other, unless sharing something they found amusing on their social networking sites. They would ignore the entertainment going on around them, or waste obscene amounts of time trying to take the perfect "selfie" depicting that they were having fun...instead of actually putting their phones/tablets down and appreciating they were in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and really enjoying it!
Sheesh...that really was a rant...grrrrr!
Peace, quiet, books, escape!!!!!
OMG ~Ally~ that's EXACTLY what we felt in Portugal this year! I swear, this group of 15 assorted adults and teenagers came into a bar one night. They sat down, AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WERE ON THEIR IPHONE/TABLETS!! Everyone of them!!!!!!!Ooohh, now that would be hilarious. Honestly, the fact he only went in for the wi-fi really bugs me. The scenes in Romancing the Stone of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in that plane in the jungle have always been great to me, like a wonderful dream my much younger self might've had....set to the tune of Kool & the Gang's "Jungle Boogie"...."Jungle Munchies"....

Yes!I was in my friends restaurant one evening and there was this couple at another table, easily in their 50's. No exaggeration, the lady was using her iPad the whole time they were eating their meal. The man sat quietly enjoying the food--which is delicious--while she was continuously scrolling through whatever was so important that it needed her undivided attention. I was so tempted to say something but had to respect it was none of my business...people are letting life pass them by. My friends all know the one thing I can't abide is them messing around on their phones if they're in my company. All I expect is for them to enjoy being in my company, and not to go online or continuously text people if they're with me because it's extremely disrespectful.
