My skill would be how to vomit figs and wine after dancing.
Is the growing season long enough in this area? Not me, but we were talking about how to eat them. I'm going to try one this year.
How fun! Wine and dancing are always welcome I have a manuscript I'm working on that's set in Tennessee... maybe I can write it off as a research tripWe must gather somewhere so I can show you all how to properly eat a fig. Wouldn't that be fun? We could all demonstrate a skill. We could have some wine and dance.
Dang, that's too bad! We have a rosebush like that one that I love to bits, but I didn't realize how much it would spread--didn't give it enough clear space. Now it ends up creeping out into the yard and getting munched by the mower in places.I bought some Stella D'Oro daylilies...
...for an area I'd originally planned to plant a Drift rose...
...but the hole I dug had zero drainage.
I guess the red ones can get three feet in diameter.Dang, that's too bad! We have a rosebush like that one that I love to bits, but I didn't realize how much it would spread--didn't give it enough clear space. Now it ends up creeping out into the yard and getting munched by the mower in places.

I have been harvesting strawberries, some blueberries, blackberries, asparagus, roma tomatoes, zukes, cukes, orange bell peppers and raspberries.
You're making me hungry! LOVE fried green tomatoes. Have you ever tried it with tomatillos? DELICIOUS!Hey, boys and girls.....'tis the season for fried green tomatoes! And like Bookworm said, it's required growing if you're gonna grow in the South. (What, you've never seen Steel Magnolias??)
Try this next time you're fryin' some maters:
To ½ c. cornmeal add 3 T. chili powder, ¼ c. chopped fresh basil, and ¼ c. shredded Romano cheese.
Dredge like you normally do.
Salt your slices after they've been fried.
Heaven on a plate.
I grow Winter Squash, Parsnips, Turnips

I'm so sorry steve, but I just have to say it. Turnips are Satan!A few years ago we had seeds that must have been in the compost pile take over the garden. Since we couldn't tell exactly what was what (all squash leaves looked the same to me), we decided to just let them go and see what happened. Acorn squash and pumpkins crossed, and that was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten Never tried parsnips or turnips--are they difficult to grow? We did kohlrabi a few years ago, and I've heard that it tastes quite a bit like turnip.
