Remember Ms. Ringwald from The Stand miniseries and those teen films from the eighties? Well, I happen to be a big fan of hers. I admit that The Stand wasn't exactly her finest hour; I prefer her earlier works (specifically The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and maybe For Keeps?) Such is my fanboyishness that I actually modeled one of the characters in my WIP novel (kind of a throwback to 80s horror/thrillers) after her. I kid you not. Since she's a writer as well, I just might get a chance to collaborate with her someday.

I don't have the problem with her that many do per The Stand, not that she didn't do a lousy job. I just don't know if she didn't. I figure any actor cast well is often considered miscast by fans of the book version of a story. I've gotten used to a character I'd pictured and gotten to know in a book never appearing on the screen while someone else does to impersonate him or her.
