I have been drinking tonight. I planned it. Get a six pack and a pack of cigs. Go to my den and smoke and drink and get drunk. Ha!

The old time SKMB members know I have a rough time come November. Especially Thanksgiving week. Thanksgiving week is a time to be thankful and joyous, right? Yay!

Not so much for me.

I was drinking and getting drunk.

Hurting, mourning, grieving....

If I had the strength to howl and wail I would have done so. Alas, I don't have the energy.

I did, however, have the idea and faith to call a SKMB member and ask for help.

She answered my call and gave me her time and patience. She listened to me. ALL my pain and sorrow. She listened to all my crud and vomit.

This is what the SKMB is.

Strangers, newbies, old timers and all in between. Friends and Ka-Tet.

Tina, thank the good Lord for the SK member who helped you last night (whoever you are, you are an angel to do that). This place, and the people I consider my friends here, and you are many, has really been my lifeline this year. For that, I thank each and every one of you..
Every once in a while, we get to a place where we just give in to the despair and hopeless feelings. Maybe to help get through we have to grieve in a way we wouldn't usually, and it sounds like you hit that point last night. We all grieve in different ways.
Today is another day, dear. Try to be with someone today, maybe get out of the house and do something. Try to focus on the good things in life. Right now, I know it`s hard. If you need some help, call someone. And as always, your friends are here for you. Take care of yourself.

I do not know all your trouble Siggy but I understand the need to just get down once in a while with a cold beer and a warm-hearted friend to talk to. The people online are as much our friends as the people who share proximity with us. We visit each other day after day and year after year. That is a closer bond, I think.
