Hi, this is my first post (I think this forum's brilliant, by the way).

There's a story I remember reading that I thought must be one of SK's short stories, but I've looked through all the descriptions in Wikipedia and nothing rings a bell, so it might be an incident in one of his novels. But I'm pretty sure it's SK.

It's early evening, and a bunch of teenagers are on a walk in the woods when they come to a water tower. One of them decides to climb it, either because the others dare him to or just out of bravado. Near the top, the tower comes out at a steep angle so that he has to climb almost upside down to negotiate it. He reaches the top, and he sees the sun setting over the distant trees. Then, if I remember, he can't get down again, and the others just leave him there.

Any ideas? Thanks.

This sounds similar to the scene from The Stand (the railway bridge) but I cannot think of a story where they climb a water tower

This reminds me of something Donald (Trashy) did in The Stand.

Reminds me of The Last Rung of the Ladder, The Body or IT. But it's neither of those exactly, just elements.

What makes you think it's Stephen King?
