Too many references to his dad's work took me out of the story every time. I know he's his son, but too much piggybacking caused me to dread each and every distraction. Saying one of the characters had forgotten the face of his father was too much, and then the Nozz-a-La? Come on. I have absolutely loved all of Joe's works, especially NOS4A2, but I couldn't wait to finish this one. How much longer could they have been on the road to the island? I figured there was no such paradise early on, and I'm never one to figure this stuff out. Just glad Martha Quinn wasn't in the sailboat at the end. I probably would've become my own Fireman and set the book ablaze. Anyway, I didn't care about any of the characters except the cat. None of the story had me feeling any emotion at all, and I was one who cried after finishing NOS4A2. Just sorely disappointed.
Doc Creed, I think some Capote is in order.
