Dear Mr. King,

My name is Nick Battaglia and i’m a senior at Downers Grove South. I just wanted to write to you to talk about your book “Joyland” that I read for my summer reading book and how it really got me interested in reading again.

Usually when I have to read something for school it doesn't sit well with me and I end up being uninterested in the book that I have to read, but for “Joyland” that was not the case. The more I read the more I got developed into the book and enjoyed delving deeper into the characters and learning more about them.

My favorite part of the book was definitely when Devin found out that Lane Hardy was the killer, you did a phenomenal job bringing each character to life and and each thing that Devin went through I connected to and felt a bound between me and him. I learned about the many ways you can develop a character through a novel and I felt that “Joyland” does this in a very positive and fulfilling way.

After finishing this book I have become more interested in these kinds of novels and I look forward to reading more of your books in the future. I was wondering if there was any chance for a sequel to this book to see how each character moved on after the end of the book? Even if there isn’t a sequel I still enjoyed my time reading “Joyland” and would recommend it to anyone, as it is a fantastic piece of literature.

Thank you for creating such a vibrant world for me to explore while I read and I hope that many of your other books do the same thing for me. I would be honored if you could respond back to me because I really did enjoy your book and would love to talk about it.

Sincerely,

Nick Battaglia
