I hope your son is feeling better soon, it's awful when they have been prepared and then have to wait for a procedure, it can be really hard on some individuals.
Hi Everybody. I hope you all had a great Tuesday. Mine was another day consumed by medical uck made worse by not going as planned. My son had a procedure today scheduled for 1:45pm. Circumstances that while understandable but annoying as h3ll, had him put off until 5:00pm. It was a long day.
I am NEVER going to get caught up here! I missed so much and my nosy self has no idea what's going on! Someone fill me in on the most important stuff....hahaha.
It is that day again-- Hump Day---- may your day be kind.
(((all in need or not)))
Wohooo, the Weekend is near
Soon it is MIDSUMMER!!!!!
It is a prechristian tradition that lives on and its, together with christmas, the most important holiday in sweden. The pole itself is, as you might have guessed, a phallic symbol. Celebrating it was a celebration to life and fertility. 9 months after midsummer is still the most common date to be born in sweden so obviously the celebration of love lives on til this day. There are some ridicolous dances and songs to go with midsummer that are done around this pole, The most known is The Little Frogs. I love this holiday. It has absolutely no christian connotation at all. The church tried but failed to make the celebrations christian (like they did with christmas only there they succeeded) .
Some of these opinions are based on the gospelstories of christs birth (the shepherds and all that) coupled with the usual practice of how they used to keep their critters in that time. According to the scientists the critters were allowed out for a good part of the year but in winter they were housed and the shepherds should not have been around. Therefore spring or autumn. According to them.I have read opinions that the birth of Christ happened in spring, but who knows. Anyway, the summer solstice is June 21st so you must be eager for the season.
I'm at the doctor the very minute for a referral.
Wow! I'm exhausted just reading about your busy schedule! Glad you are enjoying the back to school thing! Hugs to the whole family! Sounds like some need it more than others, but I'm all inclusive like that!! (((skimom and skifamily)))Just peeking into the Cantina and trying to catch up on the board. It will never happen--I miss too much! This has been an eventful summer so far: I finished my first college class in 2+ decades, and remembered how much I like school. Still with History of Rock and Roll, and 4 more classes start Monday. Plus I have to find time to volunteer 18-36 hours (depending on if the prof will let one 18 hr go count for the two classes I have with her) with a non profit that works with people with disabilities. Getting ready to start the new job in August--EEP! My oldest daughter got engaged. Then broke up (dealing with the fall out over that now). Daughter #2 figured out she's 2 semesters from college graduation, is working 6 days a week, and is currently absorbed with preparing for apartment life in the fall and with performing as a drag king. 3 shows down, and a pageant next weekend. New pup is fitting in well, but both new one year olds need scads of exercise. LilMan is 12 going on 15--Lord, give me strength to deal with teen attitude one more time! #1 son is working a crazy shift, so I rarely see him. Beloved is deer-in-the-headlights with the kids, so he's keeping his head down (lol) and we get away when we can.
How is your summer?
Absolutely beautiful attire. Wow, it looks amazing.
Summer solstice is usually celebrated at The Forks but I think this year they might be having it on the weekend as a two day event.
Hope everyone enjoys the longest day of the year!
