No confusion. A proper filling (stuffing or dressing as you 'foreigners' call it) has got to contain both mashed potatoes and stale bread. And let’s be clear bout something… Adding chestnuts or oysters into the mix is nothing short of blasphemy! ;):)

Also, the gravy has to, I repeat HAS TO, be made with some juices from the cooked turkey.

I like your version best and I'm a Texan. My grandmother and mother made dressing as you described.
