Amen to that! You're preaching to the choir here. I rolled over in bed last week and twisted my knee that's been acting up on me for a while now. :) Hope they get you feeling better soon!
I've never heard of this happening - yikes! Sounds painful. I have heard of elderly ladies (MUCH older than yourself) who have cracked a hip while rolling over in bed. In their case I think it was due to osteoporosis

It's the knee that I've had surgery on twice for injuries that required ACL and meniscus repair. For the past few months my patella has been randomly slipping a little and however I turned over aggravated that. It sucks to get old.
Oooooo, that sounds very uncomfortable. Can you wear one of those soft braces to bed so that doesn't happen again?

Fortunately, just more of an annoyance. I iced it and kept it up as much as I could to get the swelling down and after a couple days, it was better.

They repaired your meniscus? I didn't know they could do that. When I tore mine the surgeon told me he was just cutting mine out. He cut out 40% of the meniscus in the right knee. When I completely fractured the left knee and also tore the meniscus he told me he wasn't going to do anything because he'll just wait until I do something else bone-headed so he can replace the knee. Hmmm... Maybe not the best choice to have picked a surgeon named Dr. Klutz. :)

To be honest, I don't know or have since forgotten exactly what they did either time. I just know that both the ACL and meniscus were torn and the surgeon was supposed to fix them. I'm hoping to avoid having a knee replacement as it sounds like a lengthy post-op rehab and to quote a popular meme, ain't nobody got time for that.

When I completely fractured the left knee the surgeon said I had to have a knee replacement. I said no thanks (you're right... ain't nobody got time for that ) and asked if there was an alternative. He said the alternative was 6 months on crutches and even then I would continue to have problems. I went the 6 months route and he was right about the continued problems.

Hi everyone,

Big congrats to the parents of graduates, healing vibes for all who need them and positive vibes for hurting hearts.

We took the camper out to the lake for a few days. Had a blast. Lake was still pretty cold (remember we had record breaking snowfall just a couple weeks ago.) But the kids braved it! First night it stormed and then rained most of the night...reason number 5290 to be grateful for the camper. ;) Went on a hike back in the hills beyond the lake. Scott and the kids have been back in there a lot, as it is good hunting ground. But it was my first time in, and it was a rough hike. Made me appreciate even more the work that goes in to bringing the meat home when you have to pack it out over rough terrain. I was pretty much worthless the rest of that day! I sat in my camp chair and moved as little as possible!

We came home yesterday, had just enough time to unload the camper, get cleaned up and head to Brandon's for a bbq celebrating his birthday. I guess it means we are still "cool" since they invite us to these get-togethers with all their friends? :D;) It was fun.

Trying to get the rest of the clean up done, there is always so much to do after a camping trip. Just the kitchen left and then I have to make a trip to the store.

Have a really great day. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

how are Miss Cookies' woes these days?
She is almost all healed! We took her bandage off yesterday but she scratched a few spots open again so a new bandage went right back on. Took it off again this morning about 30 minutes ago and she has been good so far. No scratching.

She has 2 spots that are still scabbed over. Her fur is coming back nicely. I think we may try a new collar soon. Just have to make sure it is all nylon, she has worn those with no trouble.

She has developed some weird phobia of being on the floor in the basement though. The litter box is down there in the laundry room so it is pretty important she get over whatever is going on. We have to carry her to the litter box. Then she jumps to the washer and sits there until you pick her up. It is very strange and we cannot figure it out. If you try to put her down she fights it and then takes off like a blue streak, either jumping on furniture or up the stairs.

We hope once she gets a collar back on she will feel like herself again and get over not wanting to walk on the floor.

Now that is just weird. Could she have somehow got a shock or something while on the floor? Is it a weird texture so maybe a rug around her box could be added? I love cats, but man they can be real freak shows!! :biggrin2:
